Ice Chest with Beer Bottles Cake

So much fun and so much learned on this cake!

 

First off.... I discovered that they make a silicone mold for the beer bottles... however.... it is $100!!!  So that being said. I made these beer bottles by sculpting rice crispy treats and covering them in fondant.

 

Since it was such a tall cake the bottom 1/3 of the cake is rice crispy treats.

For the ice cubes I tried 2 different things....

1. Isomalt ( using distilled water helps it to be clearer).

2. Corn Syrup and Sugar method.  Although this had a little more of a yellow tint there wasn't much difference and will work in a pinch.

TIP: For both methods for clearer results use distilled water, & stainless steel spoon.
