Frozen Doll Cake and Cupcakes

Due to me being the mother of 4 boys I had no idea what a hit the Disney movie Frozen was.  I found this out when I tried to find figures for the cake. I got lucky and found the doll but still wanted to incorporate the rest of the characters. The cup cake toppers were cheap and easy to make.

SUPPLIES:
picture of character
card stock
paper punch
clear packing tape
glue
cocktail sticks

Cover the area of the picture you plan on using with the clear pack tape and then punch out with smaller punch.  Punch 2 larger pieces from the cardstock.  Glue your character pic to one of the cardstock pieces.

While it's drying tape a cocktail skewer in the center of the 2nd piece of cardstock.  Now glue the picture side the the skewer side with skewer sandwiched between.

Ice Chest with Beer Bottles Cake

So much fun and so much learned on this cake!

First off.... I discovered that they make a silicone mold for the beer bottles... however.... it is $100!!!  So that being said. I made these beer bottles by sculpting rice crispy treats and covering them in fondant.

Since it was such a tall cake the bottom 1/3 of the cake is rice crispy treats.
For the ice cubes I tried 2 different things....
1. Isomalt ( using distilled water helps it to be clearer).
2. Corn Syrup and Sugar method.  Although this had a little more of a yellow tint there wasn't much difference and will work in a pinch.
TIP: For both methods for clearer results use distilled water, & stainless steel spoon.

Native American Cake

Well... I definitely need more practice piping, simply amazes me how steady some people hands are.  I still don't think it came out to bad.  My son thought those were pot plants.......no they are not, They are cactus.
As always... Thanks for checking out my page!

Holstein Cow Hide Cake

This cake was so much easier than it appears.

Roll out the white Fondant until its about 1/4" thick then break up small pieces of the black and spread them around on the white and roll the black in until your fondant sheet is the thickness you need.  I usually go about 1/8". I use THE MATT, this make is possible for me to get my fondant that thin and makes laying the fondant on the cake so much easier.  I definitely recommend checking into it.

Here is the YouTube link for THE MATT

Hunting Camo Cake

This cake was so much easier than it appears. I went online and found pictures that fit my theme. After printing them I cut them out and used them as a template to trace around.  I used Wilton food coloring and a paint brush (watch out for stray hairs) Vodka works great for watering down the color and dries well on the fondant.
I am eventually one of these days... going to remember to take pics as I work on a project so I can show you how I'm doing things.  One of my next posts I'll show you how I made the camo fondant. So easy!

Cow Pie Cake

I made this cake for one of the local ranchers 50th Bday.  What a blast this one was!

My flies are cake pops and many of the blogs I've been reading on cake pops read true..... they are not as easy as one would think.  But I will continue to fight the good fight in pursuit of perfection oh and cake!! ha!
I do realize I may be the only one that thinks I'm funny.....

My airbrush died ( the horror!) so I hand painted between the layers to give it some definition. The numbers are chocolate and I found those cute little bees in the cake decorating isle.
Thanks for checking out my latest cake creation.  I cleaned my shop yesterday and am now dying to go make another mess of it so I should be posting a new furniture piece soon.

Topsy Turvy Cake

What a crazy fun cake this was to make. This was an attempt to incorporate all likes into one cake, golf, Africa & hunting.

This was my first try at a topsy turvy cake and as with all my cakes there are new lessons with each one.  I used boba straws as my support for the layers and normally these work wonderfully however not on this cake. I recommend using good old fashioned dowels and maybe even more than you normally would.  All the carving of the cake I believe really effects the support.  So glad I got pictures because by the time I made it to my friends house the base was pretty squished.
